The
ss performed well for the debate. They were clear with the rules generally.
In terms of fluency, all of them needed to improve especially on their
pronunciation and diction except ‘ the host’. The organisation of ideas could
be improved if they use transition markers accordingly. Time management was
poor for 50% of them.

to the class to complete their exercise. They needed more exercises for
drilling purpose.

Reflection
|
80%
of the ss were still not used to use transition markers or suitable
expressions to deliver their ideas. The odd start and confusion of their
speech could be improved if only they use linkers to organize their points.
They needed more exercise to and read more so that they could support their
ideas persuasively and logically.

4K4: Most of the students were
still blurred with the terms: custom and beliefs. The tr. re-explained to
them by giving more examples. However, more than 50% of them did not know any
customs or beliefs for their own race
or religion. The tr suggested them to ask their parents or friends about
it.
4K1: There were around 40% of the
ss were also not so sure with the examples of customs and beliefs for their
own race and religion. So, the tr gave more familiar examples to them.

A model essay
entitled, “There are more advantages to live in the city than in the
countryside.”
|
Reflection
|
The
ss were confused between the thesis statement (TS) of intent and thesis statement
of opinion. Thus, the TS made was not clear. They were asked to redo their
TS. Moreover, they did not see the importance of writing an outline. This
might be the main factor why their ideas were disorganised or lack of
connection for the previous essay writing exercise.
