1.    Guess the meaning of the words, phrases or sentences by referring to the text read and dictionary.
2.    Identify the main ideas of the text read by drawing a mind map.
Activities
1.        The teacher distributes the magazine of Newsweek, dictionaries and plain A4 paper to the class.
2.        Each student selects their own favourite  article and read silently.  
3.        The students identify the main ideas of the text.
4.        The students summarise the article by drawing a mind map.

Reflection
The students were able to match the article with the themes given accordingly. The individual performance about their summary will be discussed in the next lesson.

The students were not familiar with the topic presented especially when it came to the theme of economy. They were confused with the terms and concepts found in the topic.

The  students preferred the theme of economy in the previous discussion. However, they were unable to explain in their own words based on the data found. The social issue of suicides was famaliar to them and they managed to give opinions accordingly in the discussion.
